Tom Whelan and "The Perfect Bait"

I just saw a post on cartoon brew that had artwork by Tom Whelan, which were really cool.

Another thing to check out is Bobby Chiu's book called "The Perfect Bait". It was inspirational and positive, and kind of reminded me of a quote from Jim Henson:

"I believe in taking a positive attitude toward the world, toward people, toward my work. I think I'm here for a purpose. I think it's very likely that we all are, but I'm only sure about myself. I try to tune myself in to whatever it is that I'm supposed to be, and I try to think of myself as a part of all of us - all mankind and all life. Lou Romano has a blog with a bunch of movie stills. This is kind of what I had intentioned for this blog. The movies and shots he chose really are beautiful and dramatic. It's definitely something you need to check out. Then there's of course his blog. He's an amazing artist. My friend sent him some questions for a school project back in college, and he responded in detail right away. Ever since then, I've had even more respect for him. Anyway, I've been neglecting my blogs. I'll try to get back to posting more regularly.

Frank Frazetta

Pretty much needs no introduction. I figured I should do a post with some images of his work especially considering his passing last Monday. I just found out today.Although I didn't study his work as closely as other artists have, I certainly can recognize his solid sense of composition and dramatic lighting. He was an artist who has been very influential for animators and illustrators alike.
